How to change duplex setting

hi all,
I want to change a dulex setting. what will i do?

Actully problem is this i have work on centOS5 in my office
& they want to install a some software on his server the soft.service provider want to remot access of my machin & he need a static ip for remot access but when i connect my host thrue router the internet works fine & fast but when i connect my host directly net cable which is come from aircel brodband. for static ip that time my host is giving a very very slow speed
when i told about this speed with airsel provider they told me check my duplex setting
but #ethtool eth0 cammand is not working
not a #mii-tool eth0 cammand is working what will i do
please help me

first check if ethtool is installed,
