How to change display properties in Debian 4.0

I have a problem with the display in graphical mode that makes it look like there is a reflection over the top of the existing screen (kind of like a double exposure). I suspect that the display settings are incorrect but do not have a clue how to change them.

Can anyone help me?

To reconfigure basic graphics, run the utility with this command as root: dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg. Accept default answers to questions you can't answer.

If you did not install proprietary graphics drivers/modules for your graphics device you may get much better performance and possibilities by doing so. Knowing what graphical device/computer could get some advice on what route to take.

Thank you!

After several attempts running through the utility that you recommended I was able to change the display settings so that it now works fine. I changed more than one thing but I believe that the vertical refresh range was what was the answer.

I appreciate the help.

I think that I am slowly learning a little more about how linux works.
