At login screen type your username and passowrd BUT do not type enter yet. Bellow, there is a option "Session Type". Click on it and choose KDE.
Now you can proceed with the login.

Cheers,

What is in place ? I mean, did you get any kind of login screen ?

No, you don't need to reinstall linux. This is just not the way in linux. You have absolute and complete control over your machine. You are the boss, not the opposite

Do you have any idea what happening ? Do you try to update something, removed any software, got some error in a previous login ?

Please, check if you have kde installed in your system. The command is "rpm -qa | grep kdebase". Please, give us the output of the "cat /etc/sysconfig/windowmanager | grep DEFAULT_WM" too.

Type CTRL-ALT-F2 to get a text terminal if you can't deal with any of installed Window Managers.

There is missing the package "kdebase3-3.4.2-26" ! This is the basic kde package.

To install it again, you need the instalation cds.
Open YaST/Software (in the left panel)/Software Management (in the right panel). In a new window, in the search box type kdebase3. In the right panel, in colunm "Package" kdebase3, click on the check box to make it "checked". Click on the accept button in the right bottom corner.

After that I believe you get KDE in the session list.

good luck,
