hi,

I'm using lilo instead of grub but I think it should be the same.
just add the following to your /etc/grub.conf (think thats the name)

Code:
other=/dev/fd0
	label="floppy"
	unsafe
other=/dev/cdrom
	label="cdrom"
	unsafe
hope it works

greets

Sorry, pressed the wrong key. I have recently FREED myself from Windoze. I have a main drive, with RH 9, and a slave drive with MDK 9.1. I had MDK 9.1 on first, then installed RH 9 on main drive. Boot loader is GRUB, but I can't boot to MDK 9.

Here's my grub.conf

default=0
timeout=10
splashimage=(hd0,0)/grub/splash.xpm.gz
title Red Hat Linux (2.4.20-8)
root (hd0,0)
kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.20-8 ro root=LABEL=/ hdc=ide-scsi
initrd /initrd-2.4.20-8.img
title Mandrake 9.1
rootnoverify (hd1,0)
chainloader +1
What do I need to change to boot to MDK 9.1? I have a floppy that I can use, but would rather use GRUB.

Thanks

What is on your floppy disk? Is it a GRUB diskette? If it is then you can mount it and look at the "menu.lst" on the diskette (I seem to remember that RH renamed the "normal" GRUB name of menu.lst to grub.con).

Otherwise just mount the MDK 9.1 /boot filesystem on the working RH system (cd /tmp; mkdir x; mount /dev/hdb1 /tmp/x ; cd /tmp/x), and look for /tmp/x/grub/menu.lst or lilo.conf (was your MDK 9.1 using lilo or grub?) and change your main grub.conf to match. As you have not changed the MDK 9.1 drive from master to slave your /etc/fstab mount points should still be OK.

Cheers,

Indulis
