Nowaday everyone talking about linux is a great open source product, everyone can try to modify the source code. But, when I go to google the web, I can't find a any website to tell me how to begin to jump to develop the linux source code, and which develop tools I need it.

So, anyone here can give me a kindly help me by show me link or some website which provide the information about how can become a linux developer or what deveopment tools I need. What the first step I need to do.

Thanks

It all depends on what developing you want to do. All your development tools are included in your distro - emacs/VI/VIM/KDevelop/etc. Your choices are (and these aren't the only ones) look at the kernel and see if there is anything you think you can add to it or improve on and submit it to the kernel team. Or go to Sourceforge and see if there are any programs there that take your fancy and you want to work on. Or just start your own Sourceforge project.

Probably the easiest way to start your own little Linux project is to do a "remaster" of Knoppix. I'm not sure how to do it but I'm sure you can find instructions if you google knoppix remaster howto. There are tons of them out there and probably a good 70-80% of all Live Linux Distros nowadays are Knoppix remasters

The Linux Kernel is written in C. And just s there isn't any confusion there is no C++ in it.
