How to assign shortcouts?


How to assign a shortcut to a application, so I can run the application through the keyboard without opening a shell first?
For example, how to assign "s" to a shell, so I can press "s" to open the shell.
I don't mean type some commands in shell to run others applications.

Xiang, i've already said once today, that you MUST provide more information in your posts... is this on KDE? Gnome? Fluxbox? Sawfish? E? Window Maker?
