how to add hebrew support and open office

Hi,

I have KDE installed on madrake. How I add hebrew support so I can type in hebrew and which open office version I install so I can open word documents and write in hebrew?

Thanks

Juan

When you installed Mandrake it should have prompted you for language. Try re-running the installer to this point (It should tell you before it is actually going to install anything)

Also maybe check the Mandrake site to see if there is a list of supported languages.

And the OpenOffice site for the same info...

Google: "mandrake hebrew" and "openoffice hebrew" both give a bunch of hits, including many in hebrew (which I cannot read)

you can run this command
setxkbmap -option grp:switch,grp:shift_toggle,grp_led:scroll us,il
with this one you push and hold i think right alt and type Hebrew
this is the Linux system Hebrew which is terrible because no proper vowels
so i use this command
xkbcomp -R/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb/ /home/gary/HebKeyMap/hebrew.xkbmap :0
i don't know where i got this file so i will put it up for you
http://patriot.net/~gary/hebrew.xkbmap
just put it somewhere and adjust the path to it in the command above
this one you just push Right Alt once to change language

hope it helps
it is also possible to use the KDE keymap switcher but i don't know how.
