how to add dir to group

Hello everybody..

I created a group and i want to add a dir so the users who are added to this group can get the access given to the group which would be to the dir. below.

example /var/www/testfolder/testwebpage.
user name billsmith
group name testgroup

and the user is not a root user.
figured out how to create users and add users to the group but not sure why but cann't seem to figure out how to add a folder/dir rights to the group so everyone who's added to the group can access to the same folder...
