How to add a remote printer

Hey Linux gurus. I want to install a remote printer on my network attatched to an XP machine. When I try to do this I get an error saying the network firewall is not installed. Below is the exact phrase.

FirewallD is not running. Network printer detection needs services mdns, ipp, ipp-client and samba-client enabled on firewall.

Now I am running a Linksys router and the printer is an HP Laserjet. I don't believe it to be a hardware issue since both are well known products.

So now where do we go from here?

Thanks guys and gals,

Update: I installed cups and samba. cups is working fine, but there seems to be a problem with Samba. I got an error on installation. Also, to install this printer it is asking for an I.P. address. I printed a report from the printer which just states it is on USB001

I just want to be able to print....My pencil is gonna wear out..

I found a blog post that appears to relate to your situation. Apparently, the FirewallD message results from a bug, but there is a workaround.

Welcome to LinuxQuestions.

Your problem is a bug in the printer configuration tool.

Did you create a windows share for the printer. When adding it via cups use the URL

Just a bit late on the post...
