is your printer configured? if not go to this magical website built in to your PC http://localhost:631/

as far as printing goes personally i usually copy & paste only the text i want to a plain text editor so i don't waste ink printing advertisements & other unnecessary graphics...

Hi ApfelBox,
I recently abandoned Mepis but if I well remember you go to kde control center > Peripherals > Printers then enter the administrator mode and then click the "Add" button.

Then you'll be guided to choice of printer you need to add.
Hope it helps

Edit: this guide is much better than my confused instructions

Ok I tried to configure my printer but when I choose my Model/Driver and then click on continue a messege pops up: "Enter Username and Password for "CUPS"

I know this is a real noob quesstion but when I enter a username and a password nothing happens Oo

Well, you may not know how to manually make the entries into the files, but it's clear that if you're now able to print, you DO now how to configure a CUPS printer. ;)
