how to activate 2nd display as an extendeted from the 1st display

I am new in linux I install a xubutu 10 i runing on 64bit pc.
I have 2 monitor but both show the same image. I like the 2nd as an extended from the 1st monitor, please help me to get this second monitor to display as extended display.
I also having problem installing the java so it will display windows on my tdameritade graphic chart.

In your display properties uncheck the "Mirror Displays" box. I would also recommend installing the proprietary drivers for your video card. You may also want to consider GNOME or KDE in place of XFCE. Doesn't sound like you have a low spec machine, so might as well run a DE with a little more to it. XFCE is super light for machines with no horse power.
