Sounds like a quiz question...

DNS = Domain Name Server

Basically a DNS server is a translator. When someone does any type of lookup on a network, net, web, etc... using a name, it corresponds with the proper DNS server to translate that name into a real IP address.

with out a DNS on your Web server, you may need to access your web pages via IP address.....

ex.: http://192.168.20.201/index.html
