are you booting straight to the gui? if so, ctl+alt+backspace, to kill x, then run xdmconfig or it might be xdmconf.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I think there might be a typo with the "d". I believe the command to change the default Window Manager is xwmconfig

If I recall correctly, the xwmconfig stood for X Window Manager config. Again, I wouldn't bet the farm on this but I thought that was the command. I'll check tonight at my Linux box after I get back from work. -- J.W.

if you could try them both just so i'll know. :D i only hope SlackwareMan gets something he can use. it's never my intent to post any bad info, just to help. w/that in mind please post back the correct command for future reference. i would do that but, my slackbox is down right now. i'm using freebsd so i don't really have access to all the correct commands. again hopefully something here helps, as the original poster seems to be at bay. :D thx, again J.W.

Sorry PEACEDOG, I didn't mean to sound like I was arguing. My apologies if that's the way it came across. To summarize, I thought the "d'" might have been a typo, so I posted what I thought might be the command SlackwareMan was looking for, but tried to express that I was uncertain about it due to the fact that I was not at my Linux box and couldn't check it directly. Again, my apologies if my comments were interpreted any differently, as that was not my intention. As they say, "My bad."

In any event, SlackwareMan - I'd agree with PEACEDOG that it's probably simpler to just try both. If PEACEDOG's machine is offline for the moment, and I'm going to be here at the office for another few hours, you're probably better off just giving both suggestions a shot, as that's probably the fastest way to make the change you posted about. Changing the default window manager is a pretty trivial update, and it's very easy to switch between them if you either get tired of what you're using or simply want to see if another one is better.
