first u dont need to get OFFENSIVE for an answer okay!! I hope this is clear from now on.
have u installed the fluxbox? if not then install it using the rpm u got or from the tarball. rpm -ivh fluxbox_installation_filename or, tar -zxvf fluxbox_tarball ./configure make make install next go to your home directory and see for a .session file. if its not there create it and inside write the path to the fluxbox executable. logout and log back in. but let me tell u the default kde and gnome panel are very superior than fluxbox. i used it and throw it away 'coz its not thaaaaaaaaaaat good. |
i get a error check for gcc ... NO!
but i have done locate bin/gcc en he found it in /usr/bin/gcc296 /root/fluxbox-0.1.14/missing: Uknown warning "missing"script is too old or missing configure: error: no accetable C compiler found in $PATH i want to upgrade mu gcc en run the RPM file but i dont know as what i have sat above here what i must do thane he sat 100% thate's all i realy dont know what to do nothing works  |
why are you not running a more recent version of linux?. You can google and find the information you want in dutch. danke veel you might find this helpful if you read german.
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fluxbox here is more if you like:http://www.bartendavid.be/doc/howto/...s/fluxbox.html |
Why do you want to run Linux anyway? Only because it is free? Typical Dutch disease. People think Linux is just Windows, but then free as in "you don't have to pay"
If you are dedicated to switch to Linux, be prepared to study a *lot*. It is different from Windows, but on the other hand there is so much information freely available on the Web. Start with reading for three weeks, make a selection for a beginners distro and start. You won't be able to download and watch movies the net day. Good luck jlinkels ----------------- Translation: Waarom wil je eigenlijk Linux draaien?
oh oke if you think about it thate way fine for me but one thing .. you are wrong it's not about free it's about to have a good webserver nothing els en thate i give all the linux user there right its good REALY! good so thate why i wanne use it en now i wanne use it for a webserver i see you can do mutch more with it thane only thate en thate's what i wanne try en my idee about a forum is to get answers about a problem but all you have given me is comment about thing you dont know
so help me if you are so good as given comment about shit .... But my problem is: [root@localhost fluxbox-0.l.14]# ./configure checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c checking whether build enviroment is sane... yes /root/fluxbox-0.1.14.missing: Unkown '--run' option Try '/root/fluxbox-0.1.14/missing --help' for more information configure: WARNING: 'missing' script is too old or missing checkink for gawk... gawk checking whether make sets ${MAKE}... yes checking for gcc... no checking for cc... no checking for cc... no checking for cl... no configure: error: no acceptable C compiler found in $PATH Well now what to do i have download gcc-3.2.2-5.src.rpm but dont know how to install it.... en the rest i realy dont know |
All things to the side my opinion is to go get newer version of distro and start over. This is not a dutch thing or any other nationailty thing the issues is:
/root/fluxbox-0.1.14.missing: Unkown '--run' option Try '/root/fluxbox-0.1.14/missing --help' for more information configure: WARNING: 'missing' script is too old or missing |
hahah who rules MEEEEE
Wehaha i have don it BY MY SELF! lolz do you all wane know wel ... i just install all the gcc version you can think off en.. wel done all works a dutch thing that will be my one decision if it's wel or not But the thing is I HAVE DONE IT! Whoe ha i'm GOOD! |
Oke i'm sorry but i just YEAL! to fast
Configure: error: Fluxbox requires the window System libraries and headers all right i'm wurs i know but wel i have mead it to this so i wil what i gone take to make it work Lolz All help are welkom :P |
Good job for now, though I'd say that multiple GCC versions can't be a good thing. On that note, bad English can never be a good thing either.
|
haha lolz but tanks " i think" :P
|
Your best bet is to get a newer distro. Try ubuntu, or Fedora Core 4 (Latest "Redhat" version). Both of these come with package managers, so you don't need to compile from source.
Also, why fluxbox? Being very new, I think you may be more comfortable with Gnome or KDE. --Ian |
I have changed the title to be more descriptive and I'm moving this post to Linux - Newbies. Goodluck.
|
Well people i just have take your advice so i'm just moving to LRH Fedora core 4
but i have hangs for about 4 time sins i have install it so i dont know but rh 9 i never have hang.... :-( but we will see i gone see hwat i can do with this version Tanks i hope i can count on you all to help me .. "Lol" if you are all not already bin tired off me :P Tanks tha snake snakeice :D |
rh9 is good. i use the same and i installed fluxbox in it with no hazzales. if you are installing from a rpm and it shows u dependency problems then just go get all the packages that shows in the dependency list from the net ( u may find some of it in u rh9 distribution cd as well) and they again try to install afresh.
if you are installing from a tarball and it shows missing files then just replace them or install them. download the one's you need and do it. its not that complicated you know once you get the hang of things. i know windows a lot easier in installations but its rather sluggish in performance, security and configuration. Don't take my word for that-try it yourselves. NOTE: YOU MAY REINSTALL YOUR GCC COMPILER TO A NEWER VERSION OR THE ONE YOU FIND IN YOUR RH9 DISTRIBUTION CD. |
