How do you delete a directory?

Hi,

A very sill question I know but how do you delete a directory which is full of files and/or other directories? rmdir seems to only want to delete empty directorys!

Also rm is asking for confimation on veery file I want to delete even as root, how can I change this?

I'm using RH 7.3.

rm -rf <directory-name>
