How do you create a grub boot floppy

I have a win 2k system with one hard disk that has 2 partitions. I want to load linux on the second partition (Kubuntu). I do not want Grub installed on my MBR. I instead want to boot grub from a floppy then instruct grub to boot linux. Otherwise I want the machine to default boot win 2k.

Is this possible?

Thanks!

It can be done (use the search button at the top of the Linux Questions display), but why bother? Just let Kubuntu install GRUB in your MBR, and you'll have an "Other" section in your boot menu which will let you boot Win 2K, and you can set that to be the default.

If you boot from the Kubuntu live disk, I think (I haven't tried this) that it might be as simple as doing a sudo grub-install /dev/fd0 in a terminal window with a blank, formatted floppy in the drive.

Thanks for the help. I did the search as you sugested and ended up on justlinux.com. There I found a complete step by step how to on creating a grub boot floppy and how to manually boot the OS from Grub.

BTW you could deciduously eschew obfuscation but every autumn your clothes would fall off and you would be doing it naked
