How Do Set VESA driver to be used on boot?
 

Hi, this is my first foray into linux. I've just installed Fedora core 6 64 bit and am now not getting any display output after the boot screen (Fedora will boot in 5 seconds....) I had a similar problem with the install but managed to resolve this by running the install using the command Linux vesa at the [boot] prompt. The install process detected my ATI card but the drivers it installed don't seem to be working, so I'm guessing that I should be able to boot with the VESA so that I can troubleshoot. Can anyone tell me how I can boot using those drivers please? I'm assuming I need to add something to the kernel options accesed from the boot menu, but as I same its the first time I've used Linux so don't have a clue what it is. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Well, it turned out I could get a display from the card's TV out port rather than the SVGA connection to a monitor, which is a good thing as its going to be an HTPC. Now I just need to figure out how to get the Netgear Wireless card working ;)

grub being the bootloader
press e (edit)
then add add video=vesa to the kernerl boot command line
then press enter
then b (boot)
