How Do mount USB stick connected to pcmcia-usb-adapter
 

I have ooold laptop pc, which has only either floppy drive or cd-rom in any time.
Of course system Bios does not support booting from cd rom.

I have Tomsrtbt on a 1.72 Floppy, which I have used to fdisk my entire HD as:
/dev/hda1 system:Linux (83) Boot *
/dev/hda2 system:Linux (83)
/dev/hda3 System:Extended (5)
/dev/hda5 System:Linux Swap (82)
/dev/hda6 System Linux (83)

Haven't figured out yet how to get it to boot from hda1.
mounted /dev/hda1 /mnt
chroot /mnt /sbin/lilo -->chroot: cannot execute /sbin/lilo: No such file or directory

So what needs to be copied to /mnt to get it to boot ( so I could change cd-rom drive instead of floppy and install something)

I do have USB adapter (4x usb port) fitting into PCMCIA slot,
and 1Gb usb stick. But i have no Clue how to mount that usb stick over that pcmcia card ???

are you saying the laptop will only have a floppy then you unhook it then you have a cdrom that hooks in that. If so It is old. and you will need a small linux distro..
you creat a boot floppy that loads the cdrom drivers then it runs then hook the cdrom up and start installing the other way is to burn a cdrom boot that looks like a floppy yes this is the way the cdrom spins but it looks like a floppy to the computer. we have been doing this for along time. at one time slackware had 30 floppies to load lol. you need to burn a copy of puppylinux 2.0 and if you have a windows machine around make a floppy boot ok. or make the cdrom boot disk that fakes the computer into thinking it is a fi2 file system like a floppy instead of a iso. go to your library and see if they have a old copy of linux it will have the disk in it and make a copy . you will see this on all the linux distros you use the program on the disk with windows to make the boot disk that will get you computer runing to install with a cdrom.

Indeed this is the situation. Laptop is Digital Hinote VP520, P120Mhz CPU, 16MB ram =) Aye, no modern bloated linux to this babe =D I think its from 1997 So last millenia ;)

Burning floppy image to cd ?? whoa, sounds like a reasonable idea to try out, if I only find out a way to do that. I'm into this on technical intrique, is it possible to get that OLD =) machine to run (any) linux at all?

So far Tomsrtbt boots nicely, so maybe its possible, as soon as I find out way to make system bootable from that (10gb) HD.

go to www.slackware.com and get there very old 3.0 issue it will run on your machine and you can play with it there is some that are from 1997 to. and yes you can get all that stuff you need that is why slackware was first and most stable.
