How do I upgrade Samba

Ok I am new to Linux and I was told that Suse is the way to go. So I purchased the product and installed it. Now I want to connect to a NT4 domain. I would like to upgrade my Samba. Can someone help me.

I played around with redhat 9 and installed the samba rpm files by double clicking on it, now that I am using Suse which file do I download from samba.org and how do I install it.

Thanks in advance,
caddalyst

i'm not using suse right now, so i can't give you the specific rpm.

you can go into yast and there should be a way to install/upgrade software packages.

you can also find rpms on rpmfind.net
their most current listed is 2.2.8a for suse9.0

yes, rpm stands for RedhatPackageManager, but many distros have adopted the format like suse and mandrake

suse uses rpm format to package software, and yast does nice things for you like resolve dependencies.

check in yast to see if it's installed, i don't think you're going to need the latest 3.* version. check for linneighborhood too, it is an easy-to-use gui for browsing the network.
