You are going to need to give a little more information than that. What exactly is the problem you are having? Are you getting some error during installation, or are you not even getting the install disc booting?

I hope you are not giving up on us.......You have not posted any follow-up to your previous requests for help---one of which I posted to just a few minutes ago.

You can uninstall Ubuntu by simply installing another OS on the same partition. May I suggest Fedora, OpenSUSE, PCLinuxOS, or Mepis.

What exactly did you do ? Do you have other OS like windows, and installed ubuntu from live CD over it ? You used automatic or manual installation ? Please tell us more ...

The uninstall process is not so easy, because ubuntu normally creates partitions on your HD and install it's own boot manager. You should have just simply tried out ubuntu from live CD, without clicking on Install icon, before you get some experience with linux and ubuntu first.

If you used windows or other OS before, maybe you should re-install that OS.

So you are saying that you like ubuntu and you want to continue using it if you solve those two problems, right ?

About the fan I don't know ...
but to edit or run a downloaded file, you should install a suitable application from ubuntu's repository with

sudo apt-get install command ...
It all depends from the file

for a .pdf .ps or .djvu file: sudo apt-get install evince (for example)
for a .chm file: sudo apt-get install gnochm
Sometimes you must right click your mouse and select a suitable application to open your file
you have to be more specific about the downloaded file!

tim;

Please do not start new threads with the same questions you have already asked. I have closed your latest thread on the fan issue. You may get an answer in this thread, and you also have another "fan" thread---which is where I am going to post an idea......
