How do i telnet from linux?

How can I telnet from my linux box to a server?

At the command line, use the following syntax.

Tried that but I'm getting a
/usr/bin/telnet: Permission denied.

that's strange. try changing the permisisons of /usr/bin/telnet

You should be using ssh unless telnet is required.

Port 25 on Mail Server !
Hi all
1) Is port 25 usually open or required open on any mail server?
I suppose it is a security breach, from administration point of view what purpose does it serve?
