How do I tell if my kernel is 32 bit or 64 bit?

I am running kernel 2.6.15-1.2054_FC5smp. Is this 32 bit or 64 bit?

You could have gotten the answer faster by searching the forum for the many times that was asked and answered before.

But try:
uname -a

For a 64 bit kernel, the output will include x86_64 at least once (I think twice).
For a 32 bit kernel it won't say x86_64 and will say something such as 686 instead.

There are several other ways to get the same answer.

give command
# arch
will output x86_64 if 64 bit or will output i386/686 for 32 bit.
