how do i stop samba and swat from starting


i am removing all this samba shit, actually just disabling it. I commented out the line in inetd.conf for swat and my ftp server (which i am also getting rid of) what else must i do to completely disable samba?

I would check your startup script in /etc/rc.d to see if there are any scripts starting up anything you don't want.

also, if you're on your redhat box you can go through the menu to services (might me under server options, or something like that. haven't looked at RH in a while). there is a scroll menu where you can start, restart, or stop any services. unchecking the box keeps the service from starting at next reboot.
