How do I speed up booting by stopping eth01 hanging so long?
How do I speed up booting by stopping eth01 hanging so long?
I'm using Mandrake10 which I think is great. It also boots pretty quick until it reaches the old eth01 and sits there for 30/40 secs. I'm using a Netgear ADSL router and I think all the DHCP is being sorted out automatically. I just let Mandrake set all that up. Any Ideas? Thanks in advance. Steve :newbie: |
i dunno abt mdk, but in slack, there is a delay AFTER bringing up eth...eth doesnt take long to initialize but the hotplug system(which doesnt have and echo in the script...so we all assume that eth takes long to initialize) takes up most of the time...
what worked for me was $ chmod -x /etc/rc.d/rc.hotplug im not sure where the init files in mdk are , but it shud work.. |

Doesn't sound like a valid device name to me ... Cheers, Tink |
eth01?
How many Ethernet devices do you have? I recently had experience with a dell where there were two Ethernet devices... one on-board (eth1) and one via the PCI slots (eth0). The machine would hang while attempting to negotiate eth1. Disabling the on-board device corrected the hanging issue. |
sorry my mistake its just eth0 thats slow
