How do I set up my Lexmark printer to print in Kubuntu?
Hi!
I need HELP really bad to set up printing capabilities in the Kubuntu Linux OS. Right now, I can't print anything or find out how to go about installing what I need in order to print. I've already downloaded the Lexmark files onto Kubuntu, but I don't what to do next! This is my first time EVER trying to run a Linux-based OS as my computer crashed a week ago so now I'm stuck with Linux until I can figure out how to do a clean 'reboot' of my Windows XP. Anyway, I need step-by-step instructions on how to setup my Lexmark printer in Kubuntu so that I can print again. Also, I need step-by-step instructions on how to properly configure Kmail. Right now, I keep getting the 'dreaded' 'no host localhost' message every time I try to send or receive e-mail using Kmail. I would also like to know how to delete my identity in Kmail and start all over again, as I can't seem to get the 'Network' window to show up. I think the Network name is required in order for Kmail to work, but I'm not sure. And finally, if someone can tell me how to make a DOS boot floppy disk so that I can 'format' my hard drive and be able to do a fresh reinstall of Windows XP. I already have a Live CD for the Kubuntu OS, so will still tinker with it, but I'm still used to Windows, and unfortunately, my ADSL service provider doesn't offer e-mail support using ANY Linux based OS at this time. Thanks a lot everyone! |

stuck with linux
dear,
possibly you could reinstall linux. if your printer is plugged in and turned on it will semi-automatically install on Kubuntu. If not then look towards the admin. choices and printer. I've yet to find a printer that will not work under 'cups'.The exact operation will vary on which version of linux you have but cups is relatively easy to find. Happy hunting. Fred. |
