How do i set up a home network?
 

I'm still a bit new to linux. i'm currently using ubuntu and would like to have a home network where my desktop (running ubuntu) and my laptop (running XP) can see each other and exchange files/music etc..
Is this possible, is it simple and how do i go about it??

it is very possible and is very easy. all you need is the proper handware (hub and cables) and SAMBA.
