how do I set IceWM background?

alright, last time I used IceWM, i set DesktopBackgroundImage="/path/to/pic.xpm" in my /username/.icewm/preferences file. Now that I've installed it again, this isn't working. Since I want a common background anyway, I tried setting this in the default configs, and the configs for all my different users, no luck. just the black/grey checkerboard default background. I even tried the IceWM control panel (icepref2 i think) and it won't set it correctly. any ideas?

forgot about running icewmbg at x startup, sorry, but new question:

my xinitrc looks like this:

exec icewm &
exec icewmbg &
exec numlockx &
exec xscreensaver &

but now when I logout of icewm, my system sits on the background, making me use ctrl-shift-bkspace to get out of X, any ideas?

The documentation in iceWM recomends executing
icewmbg before icewm.... dont know why

but personally, ive never been able to get icewmbg to work when issued from
~/.xinitrc

Update! I just received the new icebgset 1.1 and everything works perfectly now! This is great news, as I've spent the better part of the last 6 months, (with MUCH googling and NO help from anyone!), trying to configure pygtk in the way that icepref/IceWMCP wants it to be to work! God what a nightmare THAT has been! BUT...no longer...

Anyway, there had been an issue with icebgset in releases 1.0 and earlier that caused it to "freeze up" when trying to install a background. This was iritating in that you had to either Ctrl-Alt-Backspace out of it, or Xkill it, and the background you were trying to use would not stay put when re-logging in to IceWM.

As of today, 10/24/03, the newest release of icebgset, created by Vadim A. Khohlov, works PERFECTLY!

Not only is there no longer a freeze-up, but the background image you choose will be there again when you re-login!

With this new bug-fix, Icecc is now your complete and dependable all-in-one configurator for EVERYTHING in IceWM with ease!
