How do I run commands at startup? Like Services in Windows

This is probably a total newb question, because that's what I am. I want my ventrilo server to run automatically, like a service when i boot my linux box up. I just need to know where I can put the command line so that this is done at boot up/log in.

Ok, thanks for replying. I'll check for that file. I'm using Red Hat 9.
