How do I pick a flash player so i can use online content (facebook games)
 

I just started using Linux today on an inherited acer aspire one laptop. got myself tied into my home's wifi, but now i need a flash player so I can play games and watch video.
Adobe has 5 different options for linux and I don't have any idea which one to pick.

the options are:
YUM
.tar.gx
.rpm
.deb for Ubuntu 8.04+
APT for Ubuntu 9.04+

or a preview release of Flash Player with native support for 64-bit Linux

I'm pretty sure I'm not running a 64-bit system, but not sure about anything else.

And which distro *ARE* you running?

Also, a "uname -a", issued on a command line, should make
quite clear whether or not it's 64-bit.

If your Fedora Logo is anything to go by. You are running Fedora. Safe bet is to download 32 bit rpm.

Me. I just download the tar file and extract it and put it in /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins folder. But that is just me.

Finding out how to access the command line involves the same kind of process as finding the doctor's office, you look it up. If you just ask people for the answer all the time you're not learning anything, the next time you need the command line you'll have to ask somebody again.

If you don't want to learn how to setup your system, than I think you have to pay for support. It is the same as with cars, if you don't want to learn how to repair them you have to pay the mechanic.

For Fedora, just download the rpm file, open up your command line, go to the folder you download it, run :

As for the rest of you, this is not the way to be encouraging to newbies. If you can't give a constructive comment, don't bother. I found another thread where someone actually answered a question of how to get a command line.

Tink, you're being bloody minded. If you "don't have time" (even to see what distro some-one's using), why not leave it to others who do? Being a moderator is no excuse for being rude.

that's an indicator for then half the people here (including
some mods) would be posting windows related questions
or answers.

I've been bitten by the browser icon a couple of times, and
the best way to provide targeted information is to hear what
they're using from the poster. Nothing rude about it as far
as I am concerned.
