How do I open a .pdf in xfce using xpdf?

Using Firefox2.0.04 in xfce 4.4.2 on Slackware12. How do I make xpdf accessible from xfce desktop? Please don't just say create a shortcut, how that basic.

I keep running into .pdf that do not open automatically in Firefox that I need to read, like some tutorials. I can 'xpdf' from command line but
how do I add it to applications menu or desktop so I can just run it?

Right click on the file in Thunar and change the "open with ..." to xpdf. After that, xpdf should be used for a pdf file and you will just need to double click on it.
