How do I migrate from Cinnamon desktop to Mate.

Quick google found this - should do it for you. Use the Software Manager option.

Open a terminal and issue:
Code:
sudo apt-get update && apt-get install -y mint-meta-mate
Accept all defaults if you are prompted to "keep" or "replace" some system files.
Default answer is usually shown and accepted with the <enter> key.
Logout of the terminal with
Code:
exit
Logout of the desktop and select the upside-down Y widget (called the lambda icon here.) on the login screen and choose MATE.
Enter your password.

Press <enter>
done.
