how do i make yum point to the hard drive to pull packages from to install?

i am running suse 11.4 and am using the gnome desktop. i am trying to install games from the installation dvd using yast. the dvd drive is a usb, i can open the drive and view the files and even copied them to a folder in the home folder, but when yast tries to read the dvd, it keeps ejecting the dvd. is there any way to point yast to the folder instead of the dvd drive? thanx for any advice

Open YaST. Click on the Software tab. In the window that comes up, there should be a drop-down menu. Select Add, then choose Local Directory. Click on the icon at the right-hand end of the text box, and select the folder in which you have your games. Save the settings, then try to install via YaST.

unless you set up yum "zypper" is default on suse

see: man zypper

thanx a lot, my boy will really appreciate this, he has all of his games installed now. i found my mistake, i was trying to point to the folder i put everything in, when i pointed to the /root folder, it worked. it would seem that i gave up too quickly. thanx again.
