how do i know if a cracker has corrupted my "ps"

Hi

Even when i have loads of applications open, "ps" shows just two processes. Is it possible that my system has been compromised?

how do I get a pure "ps"?

thanks

note to all, i had some problems with xmms crashing. I used the command ps -e to show all processes running and then simply found 7 xmms's running. No wonder it wasn't working

type "kill (PID # here)"

The pid is that number next to the process
