How do I install program on Linspire


I am a newbie to Linux so bare with me please......I downloaded a program off a linux site....I've extracted the files from the "tarball?" to a directory.....Now I'm lost....no setup file to doubleclick like windows....Thanks for the help

have a look inside dir you extracted the tarball to and look for the readme file, that's usually a good place to start

if it's source code, most of the time you can cd into the dir(from a terminal) and type './configure && make && make install' - to do the make part you need to have admin rights, so u should use 'su' first then enter the root password.
