how do i install php to work with apache


i have just finished downloading apache 1.3.1 and also have finished downloading php 4.
the intention is that i want to have an apache server with php module.
well i'm new to linux and i want my clients to use the webmail from any where they want to access their mail boxes.
if some one can help me with how i can do this i will be so greatful and the other thing if they can help me with the best way out of configuring the apache webserver to do my work easily then i will be so greatful again.
