How do I instal D-Link DSL-300T modem on Ubuntu?
Hi everyone!
Yesterday I have instaled Ubuntu 5.10 on my PC and it is great. But I have one problem - how and where do I setup my computer to use the modem under Ubuntu? It is an ethernet modem from D-Link as I mentioned above (model DSL-300T). It is running perfectly under windows but not under Ubuntu? Is there some place where I should enter the DNS server or maybe the user name and password since my provider asks that I enter my user name and password everytime when I try to use the internet? Please tell me because I am sick and tired of working under Windows! |
you need to find out what protocol they are using, might have to call them.
it will be something like PPPoE or PPPoA. Once you figure that out then you can configure the proper connection using that protocol |
Hi Buco55,
I use the same Modem in Debian. Dosent the modem use an http interface? I simply enter "ifup eth0" in a shell, bring up a browser, put in the IP from the modem manual and use the modems http interface to configure the settings, user name isp etc; I can't post urls as yet as I'm new but have a look at the adsl guide link for the modem - adslguide.org.uk/hardware/reviews/2004/q4/dlink-dsl300t.asp Chig |
