How do I idownload games software?
I'm a complete newbie to linux and started out wiith the idea of setting up a p3 800 as a game server for use on my home LAN. I've installed linux with server features but am unable to work out how to do a simple thing like download the linux version of Enemy Territory. I'm trying to download software using mozilla 5 but end up with a page of script, - not an executable program. Where am I going wrong?
it's driving me nuts.... |
if you right click then save as it should work, mozilla/firefox has problems with this on videos and mp3's sumtimes i have noticed.
edit: also what is the file type u are dl'ing some of the files you down load are the source and you gotta compile. |
Thanx for the info... I've tried the right click method but it seems to be source code that's downloading ( Enemy Territory game software) it appers a text and symbols in the browser.
How do I compile this to run it? |
hmm if its just stayin in the browser, i dunno, usually that is when the browser misinterprits<sp?> the fact u wanna dl a file and goes to the file and shows what makes it up. if you post a link maybe i can see.

try to find where you can download this as the file itself. what mozilla is doing is getting the "source" ( its actually a binary and script all tied together, it is what you want to play et). look for a different mirror to download from, as with this method it's a pain in the a$$ since you have no idea how far along the download is or how much longer you have to go
