How do I how do you increase color depth from 24 to 32 bit (redhat 8.0)

hello this is my second post ever.
I've been using linux on and off for over sixmonths.
i started with suse 8.1, it was cool, Nvidia drivers were easy to install and use. i didnt like the way it handelled the drive partitioning nor do i want deal with windows emulation . Its kde seems more stable than redhat 8.0's but its gnome sukks and and cant be compared to rh8.0's, all the cool apps like pan
-which by the way is an excellent newsgroup agent- are on gnome. word out
is that mandrake 9.1(or whatever x.x) is much better. To make a long story short redhat 8.0 is doing right by me so far (being that i nolonger want to pay insane amounts of cash for windows apps). ok, now to the meat of my question. can I increase color depth from 24 to 32 bit? and if so can anyone show me how to do this.
I've adjustted my inittab to run level 1, installed the NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4363.run, edited xf86config to not load "dri (i didnt have a "glcore" so i didnt need to do anything about that), replaced nv with nvidia, readjustted my inittab to run level 5, back to xserver successfully.
I also downloaded and ran a file by the name of NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-4191.src.rpm on gnome which used "install packages"
to update my system. I do not now if installing this package was the write thing to do and i have seen no changes to my system post that action.
i went to xdisplay and noticed that the maximum color depth is still 24bit video card sumary indicates that the current vidcard is NVIDIA GeForce 2MX (generic), memory size is 64megs driver is nvidia. and 3d acceleration is a blank incacesible box .
the area for special options is blank.

XFree86 Version 4.2.1 (Red Hat Linux release: 4.2.1-21)
Linux version 2.4.18-14
and this is what my XF86Config file looks like:

Are you sure you know what you want here ? The difference between 24bit and 32bit is an 8bit alpha channel which is used for opacity/transparency. AFAIK this is not supported at all for any window manager. 24bit is "truecolour" as it is, you are pretty much at the top already.
