how do I hook up to a windows workgroup such as the generic MSHOME with fedora core 1
I have a windows based home network with my college buddies and was tired of infectious popups getting passed around so I switched my comp to fedora core 1. How do I hook into the file sharing on my buddies windows network. I found a bunch of internet connection sharing solutions but all I want is file and printer sharing (I dont have a printer and need theirs). I dont want to serve from my comp either. Any suggestions?

You'll need a user account on any of the windows machines you want to access. Please post the output of smbclient -L ip address of windows machine you wish to access.

P.S. we are using DHCP from a router/hub. Are the computers ip's dynamic on the local network, or are they just assigned a dynamic ip for connection to the internet server?

To simplify things, the usage is smbclient -L ip address, note the case sensitive L . If you're using DHCP from the router assuming there is only one nic in each box, and all the machines are using DHCP the ip's should all be dynamic.
good luck.
