how do I get these libraries?

Hello

I'm trying to install xarchon http://download.fedora.redhat.com/pu...3.fc6.i386.rpm on an old computer with Red Hat 7.0

I get the message that these files are needed:

lib.so.6
lib.stdc++.so.6
libgcc_s.so.1
rilo

where can I get them? I looked on ibilio, but couldn't find them.

Thanks
Dan

I think it's telling you to upgrade gcc/c++ libraries. For RH7 this would probably involve quite a few other upgrades as well.

I suspect you have RH7(7.2?) on the old meachine because it will not run a more recent distro - if so, consider a lite distro like DSl or Puppy or zipslack. For more features, consider the upgrade to RH9.

Thanks for the advice!

Actually, I have puppy 2.01 as well. Would one of these versions of xarchon work ftp://ftp.seul.org/pub/xarchon ?

Which would be best? Would I need to compile? Unfortunately, I can't find a "pupget" package for xarchon.

ditto the advice to not try and make things work on RH7--you will go nuts chasing down all the dependencies.

To find missing libraries, simple type the exact name into Google---if have always found the missing library **somewhere**

I have no idea what would work with puppy, as I don't use it.
(I though puppy used deb packages - my bad.)

I'd have thought zip-slack would be more your speed? (Considering your distro)

Whichever way, there is a strong chance you will have to compile. Check the xarchon maintainer site for the requirements.
