How do I get my KDE Desktop back

Hello Linux Gurus,

I have RHEL 5.5 client installed in a Dell R410 server.
It used to run KDE Desktop without any problem.
Yesterday, I wanted to uninstall openldap that was installed by default when I installed RHEL with a CD and install an openldap, may be a newer version, from the openldap homepage.

The uninstallation process was not successful, giving me an error log (attached below). When I rebooted, instead of the familiar KDE desktop, I only got command line interface.

I am not comfortable without a GUI, and I only know KDE. How do I get back the KDE Desktop? Why KDE should be affected when I want to uninstall another program?

I can reinstall the whole thing, but I am sure I will run into the same problem. I mean, I need to remove the openldap that is supplied by the RHEL, and replace it with one that I have downloaded myself.

Here is the error log:
Component: pirut
Summary: TBdf43863c ERROR: can not find RHNS CA file: /usr/share/rhn/RHNS-CA-CERT

PS: I do have an RHEL license, but I don't have support contract, so I guess I am on my own. Somewhere, I read about subscription channels, may be something is missing there-- not properly configured from install or for update-- but I cannot access rhn_register or up2date from command line. -bash:/usr/sbin/rhn_register: no such file or directory) is the error message.

Thanks for reading this and happy holidays!

I did not see any change in the screen. Should I expect the familiar reddish KDE Desktop to come up?

As for kdm, the return message was: command not found
