how do I get my cd/dvd to auto detect and launch like windows. is there a gui install
i have installed CentoS 6.5 and it's working fine, but i cant play any media at all. in windows one would double clik, is there a way to do this in Linux? is yum the same as debian. what program do i use to launch bin files to load sotware? can u recomend a good linux equivalent for (nero or power dvd pro). |
I don't understand your question.
Are you trying to install Linux? Your computer doesn't boot from the cd/dvd, or the disk is faulty? Or are you actually running some Linux, but the cd is not recognized? If so, what distro, what dm (kde, gnome, xfce...)? What is it you're trying to install? Return with specific information, then we can help. even microsoft had to disable that
the "autorun" is a Security NIGHTMARE !!! it was even DISABLED in XP sp3 in a update a few years back |
I think that the OP just wants to see an icon on the desktop so that he can double click and access his CD drive or USB drive.
I guess he thinks that mounting the device as a root is too much to do. Please excuse me if I am wrong. |
well the OP added to the first post as a reply

you have to add that from third party repos please read the Redhat documentation on the redhat site ( cent uses the redhat documentation) and see the centos wiki , but that is mostly for the old centos5 and only hase some things for centos6 Quote:
-- is is a server distro and as such has no need for music ( that is a HOME USE need) see the redhat documentation Quote:
"yum" is a package manager and "Debian" is a COMPUTER OPERATING SYSTEM Quote:
