Ok I'm even more confused now than I was to begin with.....
Either way I don't give a damn what browser I have as long it stops freezing up in the middle of what I'm doing. No matter, looks like I need to wipe hdd and start over again anyways. Just going to switch to another distro that easier to find my way around instead of having to always be searching for what I need. The ubuntu distros have just not been very good as of lately.
For all I know there's a hardware problem with this stupid machine. But since I can't afford a new computer, I'm kinda stuck.
Last reboot resulted in system hanging for about 60 seconds or so while it tried to initialize mouse, which, is a ViewSonic USB optical. So not sure what the deal is there.
The system is an eMachines T1742 with 768MB RAM (1x 512MB DDR333 and 1x 256MB DDR266) and a socket 478 P4 @ 1.6GHz, 400MHz FSB, 256k L2. If I use 2 sticks of DDR333 the system will crash to the point it won't even boot up. I read somewhere that this system is known for problems like that, so basically I'm unable to upgrade RAM or CPU since it won't boot if I put better RAM and/or CPU.
