How do I get back the $ prompt after using the man feature?

In the terminal after I've used the man command, how do I get back to the $ prompt? Tried Cntl/D but that doesn't work. Thanks.

Depends on the pager in use - as suggested, "q" is a good bet.
<Ctrl>-<c> is always a good last resort.
