How do I figure out my system architecture?

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compari..._distributions

There are many distributions that work with the x86 architecture but not x86-64.

How do I tell which one I have? My computer is (from http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...hEntry=6270Q9U)

Intel Pentium III 1.0GHz (256KB), 128MB, 20GB IDE HDD, PCI Microtower (3x4), Intel 810e, 48X CD-ROM, IBM 10/100 Etherjet PCI Management
