How do I direct Gzipped files from a floppy to a folder?

The help function gives no indication and its obviously pretty different than how its done in dos.

So I do tar -zxvf gxp20.tar.gz

But how do I send it to a location the most logical method doesnt work:

tar -zxvf gxp20.tar.gz /usr/tmp

nada, how do you do it? Its got to be fairly straightforward right?

If the floppy is at /dev/fd0, try this:

cd /usr/tmp
tar -zxvf /dev/fd0/gxp20.tar.gz

tar puts files into the current working directory.

I don't know if it will allow you to extract directly from a block device, which is /dev/fd0, if you're still unable to extract files from floppy, then mount it first
mount /dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy
of course you should have /mnt/floppy folder on your system, if not then look at /etc/fstab file where is the mount point for floppy, and substitute /mnt/foppy with appropriate entry from your /etc/fstab. And then
cd /directory/where/you/want/to/extract
tar xvfz /mnt/floppy/file.tar.gz
