create redhat 8.0 recover disks + additional help :)

I have RH 8.0 up and running but my sound does not work.

i have a satellite 4000CDS and the sound specs are:

Yamaha 3D sound effect-enabled, OPL3-SA3 and software-enabled Wavetable synthesis sound
16-bit stereo, .WAV and Sound Blaster Pro compatible, MIDI playback
2 built-in stereo speakers
Full duplex sound
Microphone, headphone and Line-in ports

Id like to find a way to make a recovery disk just in case(when) I screw up my system :)

also if anyone knows how I can fix this issue i'd be greateful

thanks :Pengy:

Did you lose your installation CDs?

Red Hat 8.0 Rescue

Live CDs are good as well:
KNOPPIX Linux Live CD
Linux Bootable Business Card
Tom's Root and Boot floppy

# Cheap CDs
Discount Linux CDs
Linux Central
Cheapbytes
TuxCDs

Oh, for the sound, as root try these. One should let Linux soothe your ears. Possible commands:

setup
sndconfig
redhat-config-soundcard

# Redhat links
RedHat Linux Manuals
Maximum RPM
rpmfind
Easier software management: apt4rpm - Red Carpet
RedHat 8.0 Tips & Tricks

# Redhat 7.3 down configuration commands
setup leads to several configuration tools

# Redhat 7.3 up configuration commands
Configure soundcard:
redhat-config-soundcard
Configure X server:
redhat-config-xfree86
Configure network:
redhat-config-network

Is your sound card a ISA, PCI or on-board? Did you try a Linux Google search for a driver for it?

all set... thanks again fancypipper.. I just used a creative labs driver... via sndconfig and got it working... :)

btw, my sound card was an onbard yamaha card (on a laptop)
