How do I create a drive image in Ubuntu? (I use DriveImageXML in XP)

For the very first time, I have successfully installed Ubuntu on an old PC and I'm very impressed! The only problem is that after a few weeks use,it somehow became corrupted in some way and Firefox would not work properly. I couldn't figure out what had happened, so, in the end, I reinstalled everything, which, of course was very time consuming. I have copied the 3 partitions of my main Windows PC using DriveImage XML to an external disk, so that if a catastophic software corruption occurs, I can restore everything from the image(s). What is the best way, or best software, and how would I install it to do the same thing on this Ubuntu PC, so that it can be more simply restored in the event of a major problem? I'm so glad I've discoved how to install Ubuntu, and I'm sure I'll be using it again, but I'm still getting used to how it works and how to install software etc. Any help appreciated.

I have never used DriveImage but it seems to be like clonezilla. You can search for it and find if it is what you need.
