How do I convert a single hard drive to GPT without losing data

How do I convert a single hard drive to GPT without losing data and without re-installing.

Current systems
Windows 7 Partition /dev/sda1 (Primary)
xubuntu 14.10 /dev/sda5 (Logical) (maybe upgraded to 15.04 when released)
Swap /dev/sda6 (Logical)

I read some guides they were not clear. They also said it is better to do a clean install of each system. None of the guides give a step by step, they always leave something out.

I am not turning on secure boot but I am turning on uefi.

I have a Mini-partition wizard boot cd that can help out but wouldn't covert a system partition.

I have a way to make an iso for xubuntu 14.10

When do you turn on UEFI in the bios before or after converting drive?

Mod, please move to correct forum if needed

It is not as simple as "turning on EFI" -- an EFI system requires an EFI system partition and the boot loaders/managers need to be located there so you will need to create that partition and copy over the files (and mount /boot/efi to the ESP for your Xubuntu system before you update GRUB-EFI).

You will have to re-install Windows.

It would prebably be simpler to re-install Xubuntu as well (after you have re-installed Windows).

What I did install windows first but I partition my hard disk as many as you can....then reinstall Linux in every partition. But not in partition wherein you install windows. :-)

I actually did find a way to do what I wanting, but you might as well do a clean install, to go to that much work. I think it would take the same amount of time at least for me. If you didn't have a windows system partition. You would have to create one. However, there is more to that then just creating the windows system partition. I will go ahead and consider this thread solved.
