How do I connect my Linux workstation to a network?

I am very new to the Linux world. I have recently installed Red Hat 9.0 on my machine as a workstation installation. I need to set up a network connection so I can see our companies network drives. I've been reading some articles and it seems I need to install Samba. I don't really know this for sure, so feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. I also don't know where to download it from. I've found some articles that point me to a base website, but I can never actually find the link to download it.
Also, I have not installed any packages due to my lack of knowledge on the subject. If there are any packages I need to install, or any other advice that might help me, I would definitely appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!

Hi, and welcome to LQ!

Whether you need samba to connect to the company
machines or not depends on whether the network is
a MS domain or not. It could just as well be Novell
network for all we know :)

If it is a windows-network samba is the right tool, and
you almost certainly have it on your CDs for RH, no
need to download anything .... the website, however,
if you're after tutorials and documentation, is
http://www.samba.org

Cheers,
Tink
